AgeWays houses the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program that serves our six-county region (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St Clair and Washtenaw counties). Our ombudsmen advocate on behalf of residents of licensed long-term care facilities (nursing homes, home for the aged, and adult foster care homes). We work one-on-one with residents who have complaints—helping them resolve issues, understand and protect their rights, and ensure they are receiving the care to which they are entitled. The program is free and services are provided in strict confidence.

Along with individual advocacy, our ombudsmen serve as a voice for all residents of licensed long-term care facilities in our region. We attend many resident and family council meetings held in these facilities and work to help improve the regulations, laws and practices that impact care. We can also help families understand options and things to consider when looking for a long-term care facility.

If you or a family member is a resident of a licensed, long-term care facility and need help resolving an issue, please connect with us. It’s confidential, it’s free, and we’re here to help.
