Making a donation to the Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) truly means supporting older and disabled adults in the communities we serve in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, and Washtenaw counties. Our Holiday Meals on Wheels Fund brings the holidays to the doors of homebound seniors in your neighborhood, while our Compassionate and Immediate Care Fund helps provide an extra boost for seniors whose needs have fallen through the cracks. Through the Fund, we’ve been able to assist seniors who have lost their personal belongings in a fire (making sure they had warm winter clothes, household essentials and groceries), seniors who were facing eviction and homelessness, and seniors in danger of losing essential utilities. We hope you’ll join our generous community of donors to help ensure seniors in your neighborhood can live independently and with dignity.
Lula needed financial help to avoid eviction after the death of her husband. The AAA 1-B was able to help Lula stay in the home she'd known and wanted to be in. "First and foremost, I would like to thank my mom's AAA 1-B supports coordinator for being such and awesome and caring case manager, Always a phone call away. My mom and I would also like to thank the AAA 1-B for being such a great support system for her. In September my mother suffered some hardship due to the loss of my dad (who was also a client.) We made a phone call to AAA 1-B and they have been more than a blessing. With this we are AND always will be forever grateful for the services that you all provided." Lula P. ( on right) LaTisha P.
Tom has been receiving Meals on Wheels since 2016 and is especially grateful for the holiday meals he receives on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. “To the Meals on Wheels and Holiday Meals on Wheels staff. Thank you for all of your support and friendship. I consider you all an extension of my family. If you could let everyone know how much the quality of the food is appreciated! Probably the most important thing is the giving of their time on a daily basis and even on Holidays. They make the deliveries and they check on our well-being. I also would be remiss if I didn't mention the cooperation between the different youth groups that make the greeting cards or sign them. That always puts a smile on my face. Again thank you all for everything.”
The Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) helped elongate my best friend’s life. My friend was rapidly declining in a nursing home. Contacting the AAA 1-B, allowed us to access the coordination of service that we needed to allow him to move in with me and become his caregiver. His last few months were filled with comfort and love. After his death, there was not enough money for cremation services so the AAA 1-B charitably stepped forward to ensure that he was honored with dignity and according to his loved one's wishes. I believe that if it was not for the AAA 1-B, he would have passed away sooner. I am so grateful that the agency helped to honor his life and memory.” Emily C.
