Utility Assistance
- The Consumers Affordable Resource for Energy (CARE) Program provides a 50% credit on a resident’s monthly Consumer’s Energy bill from November to March and a 30% credit from April to October. Past-due balances will be frozen, with the balance paid down during the program year, as long as the customers continue regular payments. Participants can also receive a free in-home energy efficiency visit and weatherization services.
- Must be a Michigan resident whose income is at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. Must have a past due Consumer’s Energy balance of $2,000 or less.
