Senior Center

Transportation

  • Provides medical, shopping, and recreational transportation. Provides door-to-door service. Will travel west to Southfield Road, east to Stephenson Highway, north to 15 Mile Road, and south to 9 Mile Road. The bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift. The bus is not available on an emergency basis. Riders should be at their door for pick up 15 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Must be age 60 or older or a permanently disabled adult, and a resident of Royal Oak. Disabled adults must provide a doctor’s note. For medical appointments, riders should ask their doctor to contact the center before 3:30PM to assure time for pick up after an appointment is finished. For shopping assistance groceries will be left in the lobby area for apartment residents. Drivers may escort passengers from their door to the bus and return. Wheelchair passengers must be at the building entrance for pick up and will be dropped off at the entrance when returning.

Tax Preparation

  • Provides income tax and property tax assistance. Income tax assistance and current and past homestead credit help available February-Mid April.
  • Must have a low-moderate income.

Home Repair

  • Royal Oak Senior Essential Services (ROSES) provides a variety of supportive services.
  • Must be age 62 or older. Call for qualification and income guidelines.

Assistive Equipment Loan

  • Has wheelchairs, walkers, and canes available for short-term loan.
  • Must be age 50 or older.

Legal Counseling

  • Legal counseling is available on the third Thursday of each month.
  • Must be age 60 or older.
