Utility Assistance

  • Administers The Heat And Warmth (THAW) fund, which assists with payment of electric, gas or other fuel bills.
  • Must be a resident of Oakland County. Must have a denial notice from the Department of Human Services. Must provide proof of residency, income and number in household.

Tax Preparation

  • Provides tax preparation assistance during tax season. Assistance is available on Saturdays at the Pontiac office.
  • Must be a resident of Oakland County. Must have a decision notice from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Must provide proof of residency, income and number in household.

Friendly Callers

  • Volunteers make weekly phone calls to check on homebound older adults and provide social contact. Services are based on volunteer availability.
  • Must be age 60 or older and a resident of Oakland County.

Minor Home Repair

  • Minor home repair program. Service is provided by volunteers and is based on availability of volunteers and funding.
  • Must be age 62 or older and a resident of Highland, Highland Township, Milford, White Lake, Commerce Township, Walled Lake, Orchard Lake, West Bloomfield, Birmingham, Pontiac, Lake Angelus, Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills, the northern part of Bloomfield Hills and Rochester and Waterford zip codes 48327 and 48328. Residents of Waterford zip code 48329 should call the Clarkston office at (248) 620-6116.

Food Pantry

  • A three day supply of emergency food is provided once a month on a walk in basis. Focus Hope also provides free monthly food to eligible persons. Delivery available to homebound older adults. The Senior Services Program delivers fresh fruits and vegetables to homebound older adults all year round.
  • Must be a resident of Oakland County. Must provide ID with proof of residency and income. Focus Hope: Must be age 60 or older and have a monthly income of $1,037 or less for one person or $1,390 or less for two persons. Caregivers program: Eligibility based on nutritional and financial assessment.
