Lakeshore Legal Aid’s Counsel & Advocacy Law Line (CALL) is an attorney staffed telephone advice, brief service and referral system.

 

Macomb

  • Legal help in family matters including guardianship, power of attorney and domestic violence. Housing matters including tenants’ rights, public housing, eviction and foreclosure. Income matters including public benefits, employment issues and unemployment compensation. Consumer matters including debt counseling, bankruptcy, unfair sales practices and contracts.
  • Must be age 60 or older.

Oakland

  • Provides legal help in family matters including guardianship, power of attorney and domestic violence. Housing matters including tenants’ rights, public housing, eviction and foreclosure. Income matters including public benefits, employment issues and unemployment compensation. Consumer matters including debt counseling, bankruptcy, unfair sales practices and contracts. Services available in most languages with the aid of an online interpreter.
  • Must be age 60 or older and low income.

St. Clair

  • Assists in civil law problems regarding housing, family law, consumer problems, guardianship, wills, social security, durable power of attorney, etc. Meetings may be scheduled at the agency office in Port Huron, or at outreach senior centers. Agency will make visits to homes, hospitals and nursing facilities for persons unable to get to the office. Will also mail out informative brochure as needed for your legal situation.
  • Must be age 60 or older and a resident of St. Clair County. Services also provided to low income individuals under age 60 in St. Clair and Macomb counties.
