Senior Center

Transportation

  • Provides medical transportation Monday-Thursday between 8AM-2:30PM and Friday between 8AM-1PM. Transportation is provided to Providence, Royal Oak and Troy Beaumont, St. John’s Health System (Oakland Hospitals), and Henry Ford Clinics. Car transport is also available. Van goes to Oakland mall on Mondays and grocery shopping on Tuesdays. The bus equipped with a wheelchair lift. Boundaries: North to 20 mile Road, south to 9 Mile Road, east to Van Dyke, and west to Telegraph.
  • Must be age 55 or older or disabled, and a Clawson resident.

Tax Preparation

  • Income tax assistance is provided during tax season. Current and past homestead credit help is available from January to April.
  • Must be age 55 or older or disabled.

Home Repair

  • The Senior Home Assistance Repair Program (SHARP) provides year-round home repairs and maintenance. Tasks can include changing furnace filters, changing storm windows, changing light bulbs, or light yard work. Volunteers provide the labor and the homeowner provides the supplies.
  • Must be age 60 or older, a resident of Clawson, and own their home. Call for income guidelines.

Assistive Equipment Loan

  • Loan closet has walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, raised toilet seats and bath benches. No restrictions on time items can be borrowed. May accept donated used medical equipment.
  • None. Medical equipment must be picked up at the Senior Center.
