The Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) has appointed Michael Karson as the new CEO and President. The AAA 1-B is a local non profit serving seniors and adults with disabilities in the six county region of Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties.
Karson has a strong history of success at various executive levels within different health care delivery models/systems with for profit and non-profit organizations including: Optum, a division of United HealthCare, HAP, Midwest Health Plan, Center for Senior Independence and Brookdale Senior Living. He brings experience with the Medicare/Medicaid Dual Demonstration, Medicare Advantage models, PACE, capitated reimbursement programs, Integrated Care, Assisted Living, and Memory Care and Sub-Acute Rehabilitation.
Karson has Bachelor of Health Administration and Gerontology from Madonna University and a Masters of Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University.

Michael joined the agency in October of 2017.
