We need your help to make the difference!

Advocating for seniors is one of the key roles of the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. We work to represent the interests of older adults by educating public officials, consumer advocates and the community about older adult needs. We monitor proposed legislation and polices at the federal, state and local levels, with an emphasis on health, housing, transportation, income supports, consumer protection and long term care.

How Can You Get Involved?

Become one of our Senior Advocates

You can become a voice for seniors in our region by joining our Senior Advocacy Network (SAN) ―a network of individuals and organizations that are committed to following public policy issues that  affect older adults and speaking out on behalf of the needs of older adults. SAN members can get involved in many different ways depending, on their interests and the  amount of time they are able to dedicate. SAN members can :

  • Keep up on the issues by receiving informational e-mail s and mailings from the Area Agency on Aging 1-B.
  • Call, write, e-mail, and speak with elected officials and other key decision makers on aging issues.
  • Attend public information sessions.
  • Provide leadership in urging others to be active senior advocates.
  • Respond to calls for action when advocacy on behalf of older persons is needed.

If you would like to join our Senior Advocacy Network, contact the AAA 1-B Advocacy Specialist at advocacy@aaa1b.com or call the Advocacy Department at (248) 262-9232.
