Save on your monthly bill
First, there’s the Medicare Savings Program. If you are eligible, this program may help reduce or eliminate monthly premiums for Medicare Part B plans. You may qualify if you are elderly or disabled with low income and limited assets.
Here’s what you could receive:
You can find out if you are eligible for these programs at benefitscheckup.org. You’ll be able to calculate your assets (i.e., savings and checking accounts, bonds, cash, etc.) but the home you live in, your vehicle, a purchased burial space, and personal belongings are not counted in eligibility formula.
Save on prescription costs
Second, the Extra Help Program is available to people with limited income and resources by reducing monthly premiums and annual deductibles for Medicare Part D prescription plans. This program might make your prescriptions more affordable by lowering co-pays. You automatically qualify for Extra Help if you have full Medicaid coverage, get help from the state to pay for your Medicare Part B premiums or receive Supplemental Security Income.
